Theramin

New York City, 2023
6” x 7.5” x 7.5”
Outer Material: Felt, plastic, metal buttons, metal bolts, screen, & sensors

This MIDI theremin is an instrument that combines traditional theremin functionality with modern features. It features buttons that allow the user to control octaves and sounds, displayed on a screen for easy navigation through different modes. Additionally, two sensors, similar to those on a traditional theremin, control volume and pitch.  The shell is covered with wool, giving the theremin a more organic and tactile feel. This design choice was intentional, aiming to defy the typical aesthetic of MIDI instruments, which often have hard plastic shells, by incorporating soft materials for a more inviting and organic design.
